Singer/Songwriter/Composer/Opera singer

 Jennifer Arnold grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was exposed to music from earliest childhood through her hippy parents vast record collection.  Many of her influences come out of the Flower Power musical traditions of Woodstock, USA.

 

During her studies at Stanford University she sang in a Rock and Pop Band, and studied dance and acting in San Fransisco.  She followed her University studies up in New York at Manhattan School of Music where she earned her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance on the Birgit Nielsson full tuition merit scholarship.  During that time she worked as a dancer for a modern dance company, an actress and continued performing Jazz in clubs in NYC.

 

 After conservatory she moved to Europe where she made her German debut in Opera Kiel as a sensational Carmen.  The audience was enthralled with her erotic stage presence, her powerful, velvety voice and her unusually graceful stature.  Many other rolls in wonderful international houses followed this auspicious debut. Dramatic, intense roles such as  Fricka in Rheingold und Walküre;  Venus im Tannhäuser, new productions of Carmen, as well as many World premieres of newly composed music such as „Der gute Gott von Manhattan“ at the Semperoper Dresden, allowed her to show her vocal and dramatic talent at its best.  

 

One of the many highpoint of her Opera career was the nomination for Singer of the Year from the international Opera Magazine "Opernwelt".  Details of her ongoing opera career can be found at www.jenniferarnold.com

 

With the founding of DEETAZ DRAGON she returns to her musical origins…jazz, pop, rock…and the traditions of her role models, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Anne Lennox, Ann Wilson, Grace Slick, Susanne Vega among others.
